About
Ms. Brook Masters is a proud alum of California Lutheran University's Master of Science in Counseling and College Student Personnel program! An innovative leader and teacher with over 25 years of experience in secondary and post-secondary education, Brook is driven by her belief in the transformative power of educational access, achievement, and justice. She currently serves as the Director of the Learning Resource Center and Academic Success Services at Cal State University, Channel Islands. Through the Learning Resource Center's services, programs, and initiatives, Brook fosters scholarly belonging, academic leadership opportunities, and social inclusion for CSUCI's diverse campus community members. She works closely with university leadership to develop strategic initiatives that support holistic student success outcomes and to implement teaching and learning strategies that remove barriers both in and out of the classroom.
Previously, Brook worked as the Coordinator of the Office of Peer Assisted Learning for the ALLIES in STEM program at Cal Lutheran, as well as a Graduate Director of Residence Life and a Student Conduct Officer. Before transitioning her career to higher education, Brook spent nine years as the Director of College Counseling and Experiential Learning for Besant Hill School in Ojai, CA. She has also worked in community-based programs, most notably in service to local LGBTQIA2S+ organizations, building supportive and inclusive environments for diverse youth and adults in Ventura County. In each role she has held, she has designed, implemented, and evaluated programs and initiatives to serve social and educational justice, advance equity, cultivate cultural humility, and celebrate diversity.
Through her teaching in Cal Lutheran's Counseling Education programs, Brook seeks to contribute to a future in which all students and community members are empowered, liberated, and embraced.
