Tech Expo 2017 February 23rd

Join us for the Second Annual ITS Tech Expo, a technology show and tell providing hands-on experiences with the latest products from vendors on Thursday, February 23rd from 1-4:30 PM in the Pearson Library. Cal Lutheran will be hosting a technology show and tell providing hands-on experiences with the latest products from vendors such as Apple, Microsoft, Google and more.  The Tech Expo will also include technologies currently used in our classrooms and showcase student projects.

In addition to the Expo, we have arranged for a guest speaker, Jaime Casap, the Chief Education Evangelist for Google to give a presentation at the Samuelson Chapel from 3-4PM that afternoon.  Jaime will discuss his personal story growing up in single parent household in Hell’s Kitchen to his current role at Google and weave his experiences with changes in education in the digital age in a presentation titled “Iteration and Innovation in Higher Education.”  For those of you who are unable to attend Jaime's presentation it can be seen live and will be archived at http://www.callutheran.edu/live

Following is a sampling of items and vendors represented in the Expo:

  • Apple iPad Pro and Apple Pencil (Apple representatives will be on hand)
  • Apple Watch
  • Mac Pro
  • Oculus Rift
  • MakerBot 3D Printer
  • The weird but very interesting HP Sprout
  • Microsoft Surface tablet
  • Microsoft Band
  • A demonstration of the Sphero BB-8 (think Star Wars’ rolling droid, not BlackBoard)
  • And more…

It is our goal to make the Tech Expo a growing tradition at Cal Lutheran, providing faculty and staff an opportunity to experience new and evolving technologies, and to explore possible applications in the classroom as well as in the office.
