Donald Green
Honorary Alumni
Donald Green’s 21 years as physical education professor and track/cross country coach at CLU were the culmination of a career in the military, in teaching and in coaching. His many awards have included those from the City of Pomona for his years of service to youth, and numerous athletic recognitions from the Mt. SAC Relays Hall of Fame to NAIA Track and Cross Country Coach of the Year. A generous man, Green is famous for buying students lunch, for making them feel a part of his family and for his honest pride in their accomplishments. Those who had the privilege to work with him know that his 44 years of employment without a single “sick day” are emblematic of the commitment he made to his students and to his profession. For many alumni, those of us who continue to indulge in storytelling about the “good ol’ days” of Cal Lutheran athletics, Green remains an icon, a symbol of the best that tradition, pride and integrity can offer.
