Marc Swiontkowski, M.D.
Career Achievement
Marc Swiontkowski, recipient of the Career Achievement Award, attended California Lutheran University for two years before transferring to California State University, Fullerton where he earned his B.S. degree in 1973. He received his medical training at the University of Southern California and the University of Washington.
Marc’s ongoing contributions to the field of medical science are vast. In 1990, he was associate professor in the Department of Orthopedics at the University of Washington and is chief of orthopedic traumatology at the Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. Currently, he works in the healthcare department for TRIA Orthopedic Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
In addition, Marc has been awarded over a million dollars in grants for orthopedic research into such topics as Laser Doppler Flowmetry and his studies into “Rehabilitation Following Lower Extremity Fractures.” This research and his acknowledged expertise in his specialty have led to over one hundred national and international presentations.
Through his medical practice at Harborview and other hospitals as well as through his research, Marc is recognized as one of the foremost leaders in the field of orthopedic medicine.
