About
I received my Ph.D. in English from the University of Minnesota in 2004, specializing in British literature from the Victorian and Modernist periods. A literary historian at heart, my research focuses on government censorship of literature, specifically the uneven application of Britain’s 19th-century obscenity law. My additional teaching interests range widely, and include Classical, environmental, and young adult literature, gender and sexuality studies, and critical reading, writing, and thinking skills. Before coming to CLU, I had the opportunity to teach at several strong liberal arts colleges in the Midwest, including Carleton, Denison, Grinnell, and Luther.
