About

Dr. Fogel's mathematical background is in Algebraic Number Theory. While her research is related to Stark's Conjecture, she is particularly fond of elliptic curves, a mathematical construct that played a vital role in Andrew Wiles' 1994 proof of Fermat's Last Theorem (which remained unsolved for over 350 years!). Her more recent mathematical interests are in Graph Theory, the Mathematics of Voting and the mathematical education of teachers.  She takes particular interest in mentoring and advising students of all majors.  She was the 2017 awardee of Cal Lutheran's President's Award for Teaching Excellence.
