(THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. - May 20, 2011) The California Lutheran University Community Leaders Association will host its 11th Annual Golf Tournament on Thursday, June 16, at Moorpark Country Club.

Following the tournament, a helicopter from Channel Islands Helicopters will hover above the course and drop hundreds of numbered golf balls. The person who purchased the ball that lands closest to the target hole will win half of the money collected. The winner does not need to be present.

Two hole-in-one prizes, a Mercedes E350 donated by Silver Star Automotive Group and $10,000, are being offered.

Proceeds from the tournament and Golf Balls From Heaven will provide student scholarships. As a community-based organization, CLA supports the students and faculty of CLU with fundraising and outreach events that promote the mission, vision and values of the university. The organization has provided more than $1.8 million in gifts, grants and scholarships since its founding in 1963.

Registration and the range will be open from 9 to 10:30 a.m. The shotgun start is at 11 a.m. The helicopter drop, silent auction, awards and dinner will run from 4 to 5:30 p.m.

Tournament fees are $175. The price includes golf, cart, range balls, tee package, lunch, 19th-hole festivities and a light dinner. Moorpark Country Club is located at 11800 Championship Drive.

Rabobank, University Village Thousand Oaks, Southern California Edison, Follett Higher Education Group, Sodexo, Thrivent Financial for Lutherans and Storm-Larsen and Co. are tournament sponsors.
