Project 24: A Day in the Life
Project 24: A Day in The Life is an interactive design experience, deriving its content from the encounters of students within the Advanced Multimedia 301 class. The media students spent three days over the course of the Fall 2016 and Spring 2017 semesters chronicling a twenty-four hour time span at three separate locations: on campus at California Lutheran University, in the city of Thousand Oaks, and in the Greater Los Angeles area. Students were challenged to capture the unique stories of each location, to find the “extraordinary in the ordinary”, and document their experiences through the use of still photography, audio recording and videography. The focus this year has been on portfolio development. Each student has applied their individual style to create a documentary-style digital magazine available in print, on the web, and on mobile devices. The purpose of this endeavor is to demonstrate the direction that graphic design and digital media are heading in, while also providing evidence of how this new dynamic medium provides a more immersive and informational experience.
