Tamakan Rhythms Live! West African Drumming, Music and Dance

Black History Month Kickoff

Tamakan Rhythms Live! West African Drumming, Music and Dance

Join the Center for Cultural Engagement and Inclusion, Black Employees Association, the Office of Talent, Culture and Diversity and student organizations as we kickoff Black History Month.

Celebrate unity and allyship with this group of multigenerational musicians and students as they share wisdom from the Ivory Coast of Africa through saccadic drum beats, syncopated rhythms and African song, and dance led by Master Drummer Solo Soro.

During the multicultural, multilingual performance you will hear the djembe Fola, djundjun Fola, balafon Fola, the groups' voices, and be invited to participate. Come, listen and dance in unity!
