Do you want to strengthen your leadership skills to improve your organization’s effectiveness? In this workshop you will learn science-based insights, collaborate with other nonprofit leaders, and gain actionable take-aways. Learn to apply the “Resilience-Informed Leadership Approach” to help your organization achieve sustained high performance and mission fulfillment. The facilitators integrate their expertise in organizational science, corporate finance, and functional medicine with their backgrounds in sports as former college athletes. They use a systems-based approach to wellbeing as a business leadership strategy and seek to develop "executive athletes™ " - nonprofit business professionals who are resilient & have sustainable high performance without burnout.
Learning Outcomes: In an interactive workshop, participants will:
- Gain an understanding of multidimensional wellbeing and how it can be strategically leveraged for performance in the nonprofit workplace.
- Learn about and practically apply the “Resilience-Informed Leadership Approach” via an interactive nonprofit case study.
- Strengthen leadership skills and use a science-based understanding of trauma as a catalyst for resilience-building and growth.
Learn practical and easy-to-apply methods to improve your resilience and the resilience of those in your organization.
Faculty
Reka Lassu
Dr. Réka Anna Lassu is an Assistant Professor of Organizational Behavior at Pepperdine University. She earned her Ph.D. from the University of Central Florida and has an interdisciplinary background in business, communication, and psychology. Réka’s research focuses on leadership and wellbeing. For example, she investigates why supervisors’ pressure for employee performance and wellbeing may sometimes backfire. She collaborates with companies across industries (e.g., nonprofit, healthcare) on projects that both enhance organizational effectiveness and advance management science. Réka is a regular presenter at international conferences and has published research in peer-reviewed business journals. She has been teaching university business courses since 2012 and loves mentoring students. To inform her research & teaching, Réka draws on a variety of experiences outside academia. She was the manager of a purposeful travel leadership development program, a TEDx organizing team member/speaker coach, the fundraising coordinator for a social entrepreneurship start-up, and a professional development coach for small business owners. Haley O'Steen
Dr. Haley O’Steen is a finance professor at the University of Georgia. She has advanced degrees in Economics from the University of Alabama and Clemson University and a Ph.D. in Finance from the University of Georgia. Her research background is in corporate finance and business administration, which sometimes appears to be at odds with study in nonprofit. However, she uses her expertise in finance to enlighten the work she’s done to aid nonprofits—providing help from outside the organization and as a leader from within.
Brooke Stuart
Dr. Brooke Stuart is a functional medicine doctor in private practice and the founder of Let Go & Grow®, where she specializes in taking a holistic approach to mental health and high performance. She earned her doctorate from Pacific College of Health and Science. In addition to working with patients, she publishes books and journals, works with teams and organizations, and speaks on wellbeing in the workplace.
