Dr. Chiu to lead travel seminar to Taiwan

Dr. Chiu's travel seminar Teaching English in Taiwan will begin in Spring 2027, with travel to Taiwan in May.

Dr. Chiu's travel seminar will take students to Taipei, Taiwan, for a two-week field immersion that combines academic study and real-world adventure in teaching English abroad.

The program begins in Spring semester, 2027, with a 15-week seminar, where students will explore theories of World Englishes, bilingual education policy, and intercultural pedagogy. Travel to Taiwan will take place in early summer, May 19-30, where students will put course ideas into practice.

While in Taipei, students will live with a host family, conduct structured classroom observations and field surveys, and participate in supervised micro-teaching experiences alongside local educators—all while exploring Taiwan’s vibrant capital and enjoying its incredible food, culture, and community.
